The Chippewa River Comprehensive Watershed Management Plan is a 10-year plan that will replace existing water management plans for each of the 16 partner organizations- all local units of government- within the Chippewa River Watershed. The 16 local units of government that are partnering for this plan are West Otter Tail Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), Otter Tail County, Grant Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), Grant County, Douglas Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), Douglas County, Stevens Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), Stevens County, Pope Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), Pope County, Swift Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), Swift County, Chippewa Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), Chippewa County, and Kandiyohi Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), and Kandiyohi County. There are many reasons for engaging in a united planning effort including: improving conservation and protection efforts, effective partnership, eliminating duplication of efforts, and engaging in focused work that is targeted and prioritized. This group will be working on developing their plan through 2024.
